How much is Enough?

There is nothing more frustrating than seeing yourself get fatter as you grow older. At the age of 30, the grace period to lose weight easily comes to an end. To cut down on those extra pounds, you need to look into your eating habits. Gluttony is one of the primary factors responsible for obesity. Many people still dont see how vital serving can be. Through the past five or so decades, portions of restaurants have increased significantly, as waistlines of people too increase. Unfortunately, a number of people have become used to eating more than the ideal amount of food.

Because fast food is compacted with calories, eating much of it will shoot your energy levels up. Worse still, the more you eat these high energy foods, the more you get lured into taking in more calories than you need. Preparing more or less the same food at home will significantly lower your energy intake. Some individuals are of the view that consuming certain types of food while sidelining others is more effective than eating less food in controlling weight. The fact is, calorie levels is the issue when it comes to weight control.

Eating everything on your plate is probably the way you have been groomed since your childhood. As a little child, you had no problem with that for as long as the portions were manageable. Research has found that even children may have been eating more than they can take in. This is no different from what is happening in fast food chains today offering better value for upsized meals. What better value does more food offer, other than ruining your waistline or health? What many assume is that they are getting a bargain when they get extra food for a few cents more. This line of thought is what exactly causes obesity. What is supposedly to be a good bargain turns out to be extra calories and fat that comes with the added value.

This misleading practice has led to the call for the industry to make healthy choices by stopping their promotion of super-sized portions. There is an urgent need for these businesses to have their products labeled accurately with details of sugar, salt and fat content. This way, a customer will be able to know what he/she is buying and consuming. Many who have succeeded in trimming their weight have sworn to the cutting down on portion sizes formula. Its just a simple fact of inverse relationship: you lose more weight when you eat less.

Many people dont really take portions and calories very seriously. At the end of the day, they fetch up ingesting hundreds of calories daily. Your waistline is what suffers here. Doctors say that people with smaller waistlines are less likely to suffer from heart attack compared to those with bigger ones. Figure out how much you eat and consult with your nutritionist as to what is best for you. Be careful with the foods you choose to eat. Foods with high glycemic index keep your tummy full for longer periods of time, thereby keeping you in control of your desires for snacks in between the meals. Keep reflecting on these facts and always give a good thought to what you eat.
