Online Resveratrol Dosage Calculator v1.0 is now operational!

Instructions of use: Enter your weight and then click the button.

Dosage
Detail

Note:

  1. The numbers is calculated from a study that you can read here. It's then modified to suit human dosage.
  2. The products that are being used as a comparison is Revgenetics. Why? Because I found them to be affordable high quality products.
  3. There are two types of Resveratrol being compared. Simply put, the micronized version is about 3-4 times more easily absorbed in the body so you don't need as much. This also means: less emodin, which translates to no annoying side-effects. You can read my previous post on Resveratrol side effects to learn more about the effects of emodin.

I bet you guys already heard about Resveratrol. I'm willing to state that some may have even tried it already… or at least tempted to do so. But did you know that Resveratrol have side effects?

Resveratrol: The Ugly Truth

Browsing upon hundreds of user experiences with Resveratrol, the most common side effects that brings complaint is… *drum rolls please* Laxative effect!

Laxative effect is common with Resveratrol dosage over 300mg per day. Why is it? It's because there's substance called emodin that produces that undesired effect. For me it's really an annoying side effect. I wanted to have a resveratrol product that's free from the side effects, but, still in the dosage that I need. (Speaking of which, I'd ask a friend for help setting up a resveratrol dosage calculator on this blog, I'll let you know when it's operational.)

So, as like other people, I do the leg work. Comparing results and expert interviews. So basically, we don't want emodin. Apparently, the problematic emodin is usually found in resveratrol products that have a purity of 50% or less. This means, almost 80% of resveratrol products (on various hyped websites) have that kind of side effects. No wonder there's a lot of complaint about them.

A tip I found helpful: You can found out your resveratrol purity by simply breaking open one capsule. Pure resveratrol is almost pure white. If it's any other color, like dark brown or dark green-ish, chances are you have the 50% or less pure resveratrol product.

I'm guessing that some of you that tried have experienced this side effect before. So now, you know what caused it.

The Workaround

The good news is, there's a workaround for that. I found this thrown in an interview with the founder of RevGenetics. A 98% pure Resveratrol product doesn't carry the same effects (although having some amount of emodin in it). Why is it? Because a purer percentage means more absorption without the excess of emodin. Consider this simple math,

50% of 600 mg dosage = 300 mg

98% of 300 mg dosage = 294 mg

98% of 250 mg micronized dosage = 980 mg (more about it below)

As you can see, it's almost the same, but the dosage is smaller, HENCE, a lower emodin quantity that our body can tolerate safely. Even better, now there's a thing called micronized resveratrol. Basically they make the particles so small, even smaller than our blood cell so our body can absorb it better. A good micronized resveratrol product, like this one, can be absorbed 4-5 times more effective than your regular product. A 250 mg dose can be equaled to atleast 980 mg of a 98% pure product WITHOUT excess of the cursed emodin. Whew, what a relief. But be sure to do your research. check out the product first. If you're still not sure, consult your physician first before trying a product. What works for me doesn't mean it automatically works for you.

So the bottom line is, picking the right dosage and product can be more beneficial. It's about the quality not the quantity that matters!

Resveratrol based treatment are the current anti aging craze. Aging is caused by our body's broken ability to regenerate itself, but broken things can be repaired. To know how to repair it, we need to know more about resveratrol.

Perhaps you've seen it in the media. Newspapers, magazines, television and even the Internet for the last couple of years have been filled by news on the healthy benefits of red wine. Perhaps wine devotees are aware that resveratrol is derived from them. Resveratrol can also be found in a number of other types of foods and berries. For instance, you can find resveratrol in peanuts and berries. Although the concentration is higher in grapes, especially wine making ones such as bullace grape.

Originated as a dietary antioxidants supplement, resveratrol have proven itself as a striking anti aging fighting component. Research and studies on this component found many extraordinary benefits including for cancer treatment and anti aging. Some of their benefits are:

  1. In anti aging, resveratrol functions as an effective antioxidant that produce a cell defense enzyme. It helps by enabling cells more time to fix their damaged DNA.

  2. The activity of antioxidant in resveratrol is also beneficial to maintain your heart's health. It reduces blood pressure because it opens arteries which enabled blood flow to pass freely. Experiments have put red wine to be superior than other alcoholic drinks in lowering the risk factors of a coronary heart condition. They believe that the benefits of red wine helps to explain the "French Paradox" in which the French usually maintain a high fat daily food intake, yet have lower percentage of heart disease statistically.

  3. Antioxidants have been proven to prevent cell damage and the development of degenerative illness, for instance: heart disease, diabetes, cancer, Alzheimers, and Parkinsons. Research also stated that it promotes eye, skin, teeth and gum health.

  4. Preserve cell capability to grow by exerting antioxidants. This will enhance the intracellular free-radical scavenger glutathione.

  5. Resveratrol is concluded by studies to prevent cancer tumor growth. Red wine contains tannins and resveratrol. Both of which have anti-cancer properties. A journal called Thorax reported that statistics have proven that consumption of red wine is associated with a significant reduction in the development of lung cancer.

  6. If you do have cancer, Resveratrol protects your heart tissue from cancer chemotherapy drug.

In view of the benefits, some companies developed an anti aging solution kit derived from resveratrol. They can reduce the appereance of wrinkles and fine lines, tighten your skin and diminish those darkening pockets under the eyes. The best ones to use are the one that have a couple of components. For example, Dermology Kit Resveratrol Anti-Aging Solution have three parts, the wrinkle cream, serum and eye cream.
