I tried Black Cohosh (and various other herbs) and it did help with the hot flashes, but it affected my TSH level.  My Dr. told me I'd have to adjust my Synthroid to a higher dose if I continued to take the Black Cohosh.  For fear of a never-ending-adjustment process and regular blood work, I stopped taking the herbs and have been suffering with horrible hot flashes ever since. From what I'm reading here, it sounds like Amberen works even if the ovaries have been removed. The two cent question:  Does Amberen have anything affect on the thyroid?  Specifically, will it cause the TSH level to rise?
